The Hug Shirt™ is a shirt that lets people share hugs over distance!
The Hug Shirt™ was invented in 2002 by Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz, the co-founders of CuteCircuit, the London based fashion wearable technology brand. The Hug Shirt™ Is the world’s first Touch (Haptic) Telecommunication Device. The new amazing The Hug Shirt™ designs were presented during the CuteCircuit AW14/15 runway show at New York Fashion Week and they are available on the CuteCircuit online store.
Embedded in The Hug Shirt™ are sensors that feel the strength, the duration, and the location of the touch and actuators that recreate the sensation of touch, warmth and emotion of the hug to The Hug Shirt™ of a distant loved one.
The Hug Shirt™ has been awarded as one of the Best Inventions of the Year by Time Magazine in 2006.
The Hug Shirt™ is a Bluetooth Low Energy garment that connects to any smart phone running The Hug Shirt™ App.
Your smart phone delivers the hug data to your friend’s smart phone through the mobile network and the hug is seamlessly transmitted Bluetooth to his or her The Hug Shirt™! Sending hugs is as easy as sending any message and you will be able to send hugs while you are on the move from Rome to Tokyo, and New York to Paris for example.
The system is very simple: a Hug Shirt™ (Bluetooth Low Energy with sensors and actuators), a BluetoothLE enabled smart phone running the The Hug Shirt™ App (it understands what the sensors are communicating), and on the other side another smart phone and another The Hug Shirt™. If you do not have a Hug Shirt™ but know that your friend has one you can still send them a hug creating it with the The Hug Shirt™ App and it will be delivered to your friend’s The Hug Shirt™ so that they can feel it!
