Three popular themes found in media today are the Internet of Things, energy-saving technologies, and wearable technology aimed at the “me” generation. In a cutting edge and playful combination of all three, the collections of fashion brand CuteCircuit use sensors and tiny, energy-saving LEDs embedded into the fabric of their garments and accessories to display animations or social media at the touch of a button.
Their interactive fashion creations, controlled by a smartphone App (via Bluetooth), such as the iMiniskirt, can display tweets and thousands of videos and animations across its surface, creating an infinite wardrobe. The Mirror Handbag, featured here, can strategically animate words, such as “Love” in potentially romantic situations, creating emotionally engaging moments of self-expression and socialisation.
Along with their Ready-to-Wear collection, CuteCircuit’s designers, Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz, have created haute couture red carpet looks and stage costumes for high-profile artists and celebrities like Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger, and U2’s Bono.
